Learning Rachel's parent coaching approach has shifted the way I talk with parents about their children's struggles. The framework she developed focuses on equipping parents with concrete tools to create real change at home. I’ve seen how this opens up space for deeper therapeutic work and helps families strengthen their connection instead of staying stuck in conflict.

About Rachel

Rachel Sklar is a parenting expert, social worker, and founder of The Boy Mom Academy. With more than 15 years of experience in child welfare, parent coaching, and private practice, she has helped hundreds of families move from daily power struggles to calm, connection, and cooperation.

What sets Rachel apart is her ability to translate complex child development and family systems challenges into practical tools that parents - and the professionals who support them - can use right away. Therapists often find that graduate school prepared them to treat trauma, emotions, and crises, but not to coach parents through daily behavioral challenges at home. That’s where Rachel steps in.

She created Guide to Parent Coaching for Therapists to give mental health professionals the structure, language, and confidence they need to support parents effectively, without “winging it.” Her training blends research-backed strategies, case consultation, and real-world observation inside The Boy Mom Academy so therapists can expand their skills and make an even greater impact with the families they serve.

And as a mom of three strong-willed boys herself, Rachel brings equal parts humor, heart, and no-nonsense practicality to everything she teaches.
